There are many great road trip ideas around Fort Smith, Arkansas that cover a distance of approximately 125 miles or less. Here are a few options for you to consider:

1. Ozark National Forest: Take a scenic drive through the beautiful Ozark National Forest. This route offers stunning views of the mountains, waterfalls, and natural scenery. Take I-40 E to Clarksville, then 64 to 21. You could eat at Ozone Burger Barn or Low Gap Cafe.
2. Hot Springs National Park: Head east from Fort Smith to Hot Springs National Park, where you can take a relaxing soak in one of the many hot springs. Along the way, you'll pass through charming small towns and scenic countryside. You could check out the aquarium or Gangster Museum. Garvan Woodland Gardens is one of our favorites.
3. Petit Jean State Park: Drive north to Petit Jean State Park, which features hiking trails, waterfalls, and stunning vistas overlooking the Arkansas River Valley. Sunrise at Stouts Point and of course the Museum of Automobiles is a must (at least for us!)
4. Talimena Scenic Drive: Take a drive on the Talimena Scenic Drive, a 54-mile route that runs through the Ouachita Mountains between Mena, Arkansas and Talihina, Oklahoma. This drive offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. We've never done this drive, so it's on the list this year! We've been told that we should hike to Devil's Kitchen whilst we are there. Apparently there's treasure hunter history here as well as Indian history and outlaw history. 
5. Mount Magazine State Park: Head south to Mount Magazine State Park, the highest point in Arkansas. This park offers hiking trails, camping, and spectacular views of the surrounding landscape.
6. Eureka Springs: Drive northeast to the charming town of Eureka Springs, which is known for its Victorian architecture, art galleries, and picturesque downtown area.
7. Devil's Den State Park: Located just south of Fayetteville, Devil's Den State Park offers hiking trails, camping, and beautiful scenery.
8. Lake Dardanelle State Park: Take a drive east to Lake Dardanelle State Park, which features fishing, boating, and hiking trails along the Arkansas River.
